As an interior designer, decorating comes fairly easy for me. Creating a vignette takes on the very simple principles that I learned my first year in design school. Follow these simple steps to create a professional looking spring display in your home!
Step One:
Decide on an area. This could be a corner that gets no attention or a bright, well-lit area that just needs spruced up! Start with a furniture piece as the foundation for your display. Here I am using our Spencer end table.
Step Two:
Bring in larger items to draw your eye vertically. Here, the mango wood lamp not only offers height but also adds vertical dimension with the contrast of warm tones against the gray table and black wall. Our fig tree fills an empty space, adds height, and offers cheerful greenery. To balance the two heights, I added framed watercolor prints.
Step Three:
Bring in other textures in differing heights. Candlesticks, small plants, vintage books, pots, and vases never fail! Check out our variety here. To add more balance I place a small basket with rope handles.
Step 4:
Add some finishing touches! Accent with smaller pieces that add to the style and theme of your display. Here we used a small potted plant to cap the candle stick, a battery powered candle and our alabaster poppy bouquet. On the shelf below a cane pot was added for visual warmth to the stack of books.
