Say goodbye to the dark, dated, and claustrophobic atmosphere! This homeowner had a vision for her space – a bright, welcoming area designed for entertaining.
The most important part of entertaining is the space! The space needs to be accomodating, bright, and comfortable! So we swapped the old three-season room with a grand new space complete with a cathedral ceiling! It extends the living room allowing more seating and floods the entire kitchen and living room in glorious natural light. It also reshapes the view from the front door into a sight that pulls visitors in!
Gone are the days when the cook was secluded in the kitchen, unable to mingle with the guests. Now, we have a radiant, open space with ample seating for everyone!
Aside from aesthetics, maximizing storage is among the most important items on a kitchen remodel wish list for most homeowners. We opted to take the cabinets to the ceiling and make storage more functional with large deep drawers.
We designed the large island to ensure that it was perfect for entertaining guests, with a countertop that overhangs on three sides for comfort. Plus, the addition of legs adds a fun, furniture-like vibe that takes it beyond pure storage and food prep!
In great design, function and aesthetics are best friends! I always begin with the kitchen’s purpose, considering storage, lifestyle, and entertainment. Then, we bring on the dazzle with countertops, tile, flooring, cabinets, and paint.
