Dated and dysfunctional–that’s the reason for 90% of the remodels we embark on. This kitchen was no exception. The cabinets were in good condition but the efficiency of layout, the storage capacity, and the lighting were not up to par. And while the warm oak and the light teal are trending finishes, the proportions were a little overwhelming.
So I took the homeowners wishlist and went to the drawing board to come up with a plan to optimize every last inch of their kitchen while lavishing it with the beautiful finishes they will enjoy for years to come!
After we addressed the storage issues, we moved onto the palette. We built the scheme off of the new flooring selection that was in tune with the natural pieces the homeowner already had — mainly the basket collection. The floor also had to coordinate with the existing honey oak woodworking throughout the rest of their beautiful home.
White on white with pops of color in the wall paint and accent pieces gave this kitchen a bright, carefree style that matched the homeowners’ personalities. This farmhouse style infused with a boho vibe brought in the natural elements already on display in this home and gave the homeowner the freedom to change out decor with the seasons.
Custom cabinets allow us to not only maximize the width, but also the depth, the drawer/door configuration, the door style, cabinet finish, and all the goodies that we tuck inside to make organization easy. Here, we used the modern shaker door style but gave it a traditional appeal with a beveled raised panel. The perfect shade of white was selected to coordinate with the white and espresso veining in the gray quartz.
