Opening an interior design center has been my dream for a very long time. My husband, Brad, and I have been throwing the idea back and forth for a few years but continued to put it off since our children are young. Last summer, with all the kids home, I decided that working from home was no longer an option. So when I noticed the building I had wanted was empty, we prayed about it. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you,” God spoke to me. Everything began to line up perfectly for us. The one time I started to get a little anxiety, God spoke to my heart again, “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” My mind was at ease as we continued to push on!
My very first job out of college was working for a multi-million dollar builder in Sarasota, FL. It was my dream job since the hard finishes and architectural side of interior design is where I saw myself building a career. I was blessed to be able to work out of a 4000 square foot showroom specifying the same materials that I have in my 2000 sq/ft studio today: cabinets, flooring, paint colors, countertops, light fixtures, faucets and sinks, wall paper, ect. I also gained experience in the field where I learned more about the building process and had hands on experience with 2 senior designers who trained me to be more creative with my finishes making every last detail of each interior space count.
I also worked for a while in commercial design focusing mainly on country clubs, and had more hands on training in the custom cabinet industry where I gained a lot of experience in kitchen cabinetry design. After our third child was born, my husband and I decided it would be best for our young family to have me home full-time. But my ambition couldn’t keep me from pursuing my career choice so I found space in my home to work.
Over the past 6 years, from my home, I have designed several full home remodels and new additions as well as guiding a couple family and friends through the construction process of their newly built homes. These projects can be viewed in my portfolio. Now that we have an interior design studio to work out of, I am excited to be back to work serving the community full-time doing what I love! I hope you stop in, even to be nosy, and check out what we have to offer!
Awesome Lisa. I will forward!
