Next, I dry brushed some white back into the moon and around the outside of the moon. Then I painted an evergreen tree and a few branches. I wanted to give it a foggy effect so I painted in a solid ground and dry brushed white areas over the pine tree and behind the deer. If you mess up, paint can be removed with 220 grit sandpaper or painted over and over. I wouldn't paint too many layers without sanding though or you will end up with a bumpy texture. Check the sides of the deer to make sure that the painted and unpainted areas match up. You can also seal the skull by spraying a flat or satin waterbased polyurethane over it. Most of the oil based polyurethane has an amber tone to it so I highly suggest water based (if you use anything at all).
